Highlights are a great way to grab attention on Instagram. Highlights are different from stories and posts. Stories are clips or pictures that can be viewed for a maximum of 24 hours, then they disappear for the public.
The user who created the story can still view it. But you can also put the story on your profile as a highlight so anyone can keep viewing the story whenever they are on your profile!
Step-by-step guide:
1. Open up Instagram and tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner
2. On your profile, just under your profile bio and Edit profile and Share profile buttons, tap the New button with the plus sign in it.
3. Select a story you previously made, then tap the selection button at the bottom right of the story or stories you want to add to the highlight. Multiple stories can be in a highlight! Then tap Next.
4. You can then give the highlight a name, and also change the cover image. Note that the cover image is just a thumbnail of one of the stories that you added. There does currently (May 2023) not seem to be a way to change the cover image to something entirely different.
5. The highlight is now on your profile with your chosen cover image and title. Anyone can now see your new highlight when they are on your profile!
